Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.

Peel, core and slice the pears.

Toss them with the juice of half a lemon.

Add the ginger, cinnamon, brown sugar, flour and salt.

Mix the ingredients and put them in a baking dish.

To make the crust, combine the flour, brown sugar and salt.

Add the butter in chunks and work into the dry ingredients with your hands or a pastry blender until the mixture resembles coarse meal.

Scatter over the pear mixture.
