Heat the olive oil in a soup pot over medium heat.

Add the onion, celery and carrots and cook for , stirring occasionally.

Add the garlic and cook briefly.

Add the tomatoes, stock, basil, parsley and salt and pepper to taste.

Raise the heat and bring to a boil.

Lower the heat, cover the pan partially and simmer for or until the vegetables are tender.

Add the beans and pasta.

Cook for or until pasta is tender.

Taste for seasoning and add salt and pepper to taste.

Serve topped with grated Parmesan cheese.
