Peel the potatoes, cut them into chunks and cook them in lightly salted water for or until tender.

Using a potato masher or ricer, mash the potatoes (do not use a food processor).

Add the butter, optional cream cheese, milk and salt and pepper to taste and continue to mash, blending ingredients, until the desired consistency is reached.

Place in a baking dish and sprinkle lightly with paprika.

Can be cooked ahead and reheated in a 350 degree oven for .
