How to Cook White Rice

Every good cook should know this recipe. White rice goes with practically every entrée and can be the basis of many wonderful main dishes, as well.

Place the rice in a 2–3 quart saucepan and cover it with the cold water.

Bring the mixture to a boil over high heat.

Let the mixture boil .

Remove the pan from the heat.

Stir the rice mixture with a fork.

Cover the pan and let the rice stand (off the heat) .

Return the pan of rice to the heat and turn the heat to the lowest temperature.

Cook the rice without lifting the cover for or until grains are fluffy and all the liquid has been absorbed.

Remove the pan from the heat and let the rice stand, covered, for before serving.

Try these: • Use canned or homemade chicken, beef, or vegetable stock instead of water to cook the rice.

• Dissolve 1/2 tsp.
