Homestyle White Bread

This is a firm white bread, terrific when sliced and spread with butter, but also wonderful for sandwiches and French Toast.
Prep time: less than 15 minutes, plus rising time

Instructions
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
In a small saucepan, heat the milk until bubbles form around the edges of the pan.
Add the sugar, salt, shortening and butter.
Stir to dissolve ingredients.
Remove the pan from the heat and let the mixture cool to about 85 degrees (lukewarm).
Combine the yeast and warm water, stir and let rest for .
Pour the milk mixture into the bowl of an electric mixer, add the yeast mixture and stir to combine ingredients.
Add two cups of flour and blend it in, then add the eggs and blend them in.
Continue to add flour, mixing continuously, until a soft, non-sticky dough forms.
Knead with a dough hook or by hand on a floured surface until the dough is smooth, uniform and elastic ( by machine, by hand).
(You may use a food processor; kneading will take about one minute.) Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it and put it in a warm place for 1-1/ or until the dough has doubled in bulk.
Punch the dough down and let it rest for .
Cut the dough in half and place in two lightly greased 8-1/2”x 4-1/2”loaf pans.

Loaf should sound hollow when tapped on the bottom.
