Ham and Asparagus Roll-ups

Simple and stunning. Set the pieces on doilies for even greater visual effect.

Instructions
Cut the woody, purplish bottoms off the asparagus.
Peel the asparagus if desired.
Cook the asparagus until they are fork tender (See the “Vegetables”recipe section) and drain them under cold water.
Wipe the asparagus dry with paper towels.
(If you use frozen asparagus, cook them until they are tender.) Wipe the ham slices dry and spread each slice with an equal amount of cream cheese.
Place a cooked asparagus spear down the length of the slice of ham.
Squeeze the lemon over each asparagus spear.
Sprinkle with the chives, and grind some fresh pepper over the ingredients.
Roll the ham jelly-roll style to make one long roll.
Place the roll seam side down on a plate in the refrigerator (cover the plate with plastic wrap).
Chill for at least .
Slice each roll into tions.
