Melt the butter and keep it hot over low heat.

Beat the egg and sugar together in the top part of a double boiler set over barely simmering water for , or until the mixture is thick and pale.

Gradually add the melted butter and blend ingredients thoroughly.

Cook for one minute, stirring, but do not let the mixture come to a boil.
