Baked Apples with Dried Figs, Hazelnuts and Cider

It may be worth baking these just for their fragrance as they bake in the oven. Baked apples are great for dessert but also make a splendid breakfast.

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.

Wash and core the apples.

Leave a small portion of the core at the bottom.

Peel apples halfway down from the top and put them in a baking dish.

Mix together the chopped dried figs, hazelnuts, honey and 3 TB.

Place mixture inside the hollowed apple cores.

Pour the remaining cider over the apples.

Sprinkle apples lightly with cinnamon.

Cut the butter into 4 equal portions and place them on top of the apples.

Bake apples for or until they are tender, basting occasionally with the juices.
