Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

Lightly grease a 9-inch springform pan.

In the bowl of an electric mixer beat the butter and sugar together on medium speed for or until fluffy and smooth.

Add the eggs and beat them in thoroughly.

Add the flour, baking powder, salt and almond extract and mix for or until the batter is thoroughly blended.

Spoon the batter into the prepared pan.

Peel and slice the apples and arrange them over the batter in overlapping layers.
